摘 要：This will be a ninety-minute lecture discussing how to identify the Burgers vectors of dislocationss using high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The lecture will start from some fundamental theories of crystalline and dislocations structures followed by discussion of the projection of Burgers vectors on a specific atomic plane and a practical method of indexing HRTEM images. Dislocationss in the face-centred cubic metallic structure will be discussed in detail. The method presented in the lecture will be applicable to all other structures. The lecture will be useful for postgraduate research students who will use HRTEM to study the deformation and defects in crystalline materials.
